Gopher Singles

Gopher Singles is a dating site that helps the single students, staff, alumni and friends of the University of Minnesota get hooked up. The site has a very nice, clean design and is very simple to use. I also found getting a free membership to be a fast and easy undertaking. The profiles in this site can be pretty involved, but they let you skip most of the detail during the sign up process. Once inside I saw that the site really will only be useful for a very small group of people. Almost all of the members of this site live in the Minneapolis area and are involved with the school in some way. This doesn't mean that you have to be in order to use the site, but if you don't live in that area there will not be any members near you.

If you do find the site useful you can search the member profiles using two different search options. The basic option allows you to search based on age range and distance from you while the advanced search called Super Match uses the details from your profiles to match you up with other people. If you are going to use the Super Match you will have to take the time to fill in the full profile. You can use these search options and look at people's profiles for free, but if you want to contact someone directly you will have to get a paid membership.

Sadly, the search options is where the features on this site stop. There are no chat rooms or instant messengers. There are no extra features at all.

When it comes to how I scored this site I did score it pretty low. I did this because most people seeing the site will find no real use for it and it does lack some features that many other dating sites have. That said, if you live in the Minneapolis area, this site could be of some real value to you and you should ignore my rating, get a free membership and check the site out for yourself.
