Penguin Singles

Penguin Singles is the dating site where the students, staff and alumni of Youngstown State University go to hook up. The site has a clean design that makes it easy to use and signing up for a free membership is a very fast and easy thing to do. Right from the start there are things I like and don't like about the site.

I like that you can skip a lot of the details on your profile when you sign up. This gives you a chance to check the site out and see if you like it before putting out the effort to fill in all that extra information. I also like the search options you have. You can do a basic search of the members which allows you to search by age range and distance from you – down to within five miles of your zip code. You can also use the advanced search called Super Match. This allows you to use the details from your profile to match you with other people. If you want to use the Super Match you will have to fill in the details on your profile.

What I don't like is that this is a very local oriented site. Almost all of the members of the site live in the general area of the university. If you don't live in that area or are not affiliated with the school you will probably not find a whole lot of use for this site because there will not be very many, if any, members near you. Also, I didn't like the lack of extra features. The search options are nice, but they are the only features on the site. There are no chat rooms, user forums or anything like that.

While the site is easy to use and the search options are nice, I still scored it on the low end simply because most people will have little use for the site. However, if you live in the general area that the site is in or you are affiliated with the university, then I would suggest you still give it a look because they have a nice concentrated group of people in that area for you to contact. You can browse the profiles and search the site for free. You only have to get a paid membership if you want to contact someone directly so if you are in the correct area for this site, you are out nothing but a few minutes of time to give it a try.
