Single Cougars

Single Cougars is a dating site for all the single people of the University of Houston, Texas. The site is focused on the students, alumni and staff of the university, but that doesn't mean you have to be involved with the school in order to join this site. However, almost all of the 4,000 members live in the Houston area. If you don't live in that area then you can almost be assured that you won't have any members near you.

If you do live in the Houston area and want to give the site a try you will find signing up for the free membership to be a fast and simple process. You can choose to fill in all of the detail on your profile when you sign up or you can skip it and fill it in later. The site is easy to navigate, but a little sparse on features. The two main features of the site are the two different search engines. The basic search allows you to search the members by distance from you and age range. If you want a more detailed search you can use the second search engined called Smart Match. This engine takes all of the information from your profile and uses it to match you with like-minded people.

Getting a membership, creating a profile, searching the site and looking at people's profiles is all free. You only need to get a paid membership if you want to contact someone directly. I love that because it lets you really get a feel for the site and actually find someone you are interested in before spending any money.

As nice as the search engines and profiles are they are the only real features on the site. There are no chat rooms, no instant messaging or anything like that. This lack of extra features along with the very local nature of the site is why I scored it on the lower end. Most people out there will have very little use for this site. Those that live in the Houston area should ignore my rating and give the site a look because it does have a nice collection of members concentrated in your area so the odds are you will find someone in your area that you are interested in.
