Single Grizzlies

Single Grizzlies is a dating site that focuses on the students, staff and alumni of Oakland University. While you don't have to be involved with the school to join this site you should know that almost all of the nearly 2,000 members live in the area in and around the school so if you don't live in that area then the chances are you will not have any members near you.

That said, if you are in the correct area there is some good stuff to check out. The sign up process is fast and easy and the site is simple to navigate and well designed. You can search the profiles using a basic search options which allows you to filter by age range and distance from you. The advanced search option is called Smart Match. It takes all the information from your profile and uses it to match you with like-minded people. If you are like me and you skipped filling in the details on your profile when you signed up you will need to go back and fill them all in for the Smart Match to work correctly.

As nice as the search options are, they are the only features on this site. Don't be expecting any chat rooms, instant messaging or any type of interactive features because the site doesn't have any of those. On the plus site you can search the site, create a profile and check out other people's profiles with your free membership. You only have to get a paid membership if you actually want to contact anyone. This is a great deal because it lets you fully explore the site and see if there is anyone of interest near you before you plunk down your hard earned money.

I scored this site on the lower end because of its lack of interactive features and the local aspect of the site. Anyone not in the general area of the school will find the site to be pretty useless. For those that are near the school and live in its general area I say give it a try. There are a decent number of members and they are all located in your area so the odds of meeting someone near you are pretty good.
