Spartan Singles

Spartan Singles is a dating site for the single students, alumni and friends of Michigan State University. While you don't have to be involved with the school to use this site you should understand that almost all of the members in this site are located in the general area of the site so if you don't live in that area the chances are that this site will have no real use for you.

All of that said there is some stuff here to recommend for those that do live in the area or who just want to check it out. Signing up for a free membership is fast and easy and the member's area is a breeze to navigate. There are around 1,200 members in this site with about 40% of them being women. You can search the members with one of two search options. The basic search option allows you to select a distance from you (down to within five miles of your zip code) and an age range. It returns results within your selected criteria. The more advanced search options is called Smart Match. It takes the details from your profile and uses them to match you with like-minded people. When you sign up you can skip filling the details of your profile if you want. If you have done that you will need to go back and fill them in before the Smart Match option will work correctly for you.

Unfortunately, the search features make up the whole of the features on this site. There are no chat rooms, forums or any kind of interactive features.

I scored this site on the lower end because for most of us who do not live near the school the site will not be very useful. However, if you do live near the school then you should ignore my score and give this site a try. Yes, it lacks in features, but there are a decent number of members all in your area so it is still worth checking out. Add in the fact that you can search the site and browse the profiles for free (you only have to get a paid membership if you want to contact someone) and it makes it that much more attractive for those that are either Spartans or live near the university.
