Tar Heel Dating is a dating site that is primarily meant to be used by the single students, alumni and friends of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While you don't have to be involved with the school to use this site you should know that almost all of the members in this site live in the general area of the school so if you don't live in that area there is a very good chance that there will not be any members near you.

Getting your free membership to this site is fast and easy. While signing up you can choose to fill in all the details of your profile, or you can skip them and fill them in later. I like being given that choice because I prefer to check out the site and decide if I want to use it before I spend the time filling in my profile. There are around 1,000 members in this site and searching through them is pretty easy. You can do a basic search which allows you to select an age range and distance from you and sort them by that criteria. There is also an advanced search that takes the information from your profile and uses it to match you with like-minded people. You can create your profile, use the search tools and look at other people's profiles with your free membership. You only have to buy a paid membership if you want to contact someone.

I did score this site on the lower end for a couple of reasons. The primary reason is that it is very local in nature. Those that don't live near the school will have very little use for the site. Also the site is lacking any kind of bonus features. There are no chat rooms, user forums or any interactive features. That said, if you are involved with the school or you live in the general area of the school you should give this site a chance and check it out because almost all of the members live in your area so there is a good chance that you will find someone you are interested in here.
